Stopped by after dropping Connie off at State College. Fished several locations from Grier School to Spruce Creek. Water was low, a tad murky but still cool. By no means cold.
Hatch activity was limited to some smalll dark caddis and a yellow cranefly. Was scouting for Isos but didn't see any. I only caught smallish trout, but missed a couple respectable ones on dries. I may have caught a couple bobber fishing with a pheasant tail, also, but don't wish to talk about it.
I would say it is safe to fish early and late, but take temperatures if you are there mid-day or go to areas where springs dropped the temp a bit. I lost my thermometer, but I would say when I started, it was likely into the mid-sixties, but the trout seemed healthy and were feeding sporadically, so I suspect that has been the peak for a spell, at least.
