Little Juniata, Huntington County 5/21/17

A buddy and I went up to the little J on Sunday morning. Sorry I missed the jam but my son threw up Saturday so I was lucky to go at all. We fished just below Tyrone, arrived at the stream around 7. Based on the reports I was all ready to nymph the day, but when I got into the stream there were sulphers everywhere and rising fish, a very pleasent surprise. Normally we cover a lot of water when fishing together but we stayed in one section until 2. We moved slowly because there were so many targets and no other fisherman. We saw one other car in the parking lot, he had Virginia plates too. The sulphers continued coming off most of the day. It did slow a little bit around 4 but the trout were still eager to take a dry fly. There were also some caddis mixed in but I didn't see any fish take them. I am new to this stream, only my 3rd time, but what a great day. The air temps were in the low 60s with overcast skies, flow was around 300 with water temps in the high 50s. We left around 7 to make the drive home. I think there was probably a spinner fall but our day was complete.

Very nice fish. Apparently we shoulda fished on the way home on Sunday. We drove by Kish but I always forget that Jam Sunday there is a rodeo there and it's a zoo. That coupled with the generally lousy fishing Saturday after the cool down had us just head for home.

Wow, you guys did really well! I wish I had done half as well as you did. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Makes me want to give the LJ another chance.
