Stream is in great shape! No discoloration from Thursday's rains, running clear and maybe a bit higher than when I first fished it back in late August. Started at about 8 in the morning at the corner pool just as you enter the bustling metropolis of Spruce Creek, brought 6 to hand by 11ish, missed a few others, all on top using orange ants and crane flies. Various bugs coming off the water, most notable were the couple of big yellow mayflies I saw...yellow drake? Looked too big to be a sulfer...took a break once I reached the flat water upstream of the corner and swung by the shop to pick up some tippet and a couple flies. Headed on up the road to the stretch behind the junkyard, fished from bridge to bridge, bringing another dozen so to hand (lost count..), and missed just as many. Bailed at 6ish to do the drive home, a sparse hatch of #16 creamish/tan colored something or others were still coming off the water...hard to walk away from rising trouts.

Flies that worked:
#14 orange ant
#14 black para ant.
#14 yellow Adams.
#14 hardbody wet ant dropped from the Adams.
#16 tan elk hair caddis
#16 light cahill
#16 para light cahill
#20 snowshoe emerger

All the trout were browns, with fully intact fins, even the little 7 incher, no clipped adipose fins. Avg was about 12", fish of the day was a solid 15 incher on the yellow adams, all of 'em were plenty feisty when hooked, good times.

little guy to start the day

tomitrout,
Nice report and good pictures. I really like the red spot on the adipose fin of the trout in your fourth shot. I've never fished the Little J during the fall season, but I've heard really good things about it. Tight lines!!!

Very nice report, enjoyed the pics!

Looks like everyone is enjoying the Little J as of late! Did you see any Iso's along this stretch? They were coming off in pretty good numbers at Barree.
