Air temperature – highs in the low 60s on Friday on Saturday, 50’s on Sunday (at noon).Mornings were cold
Water temperature – high 40s to 50 in the am to mid 50s in the pm
Hatches – some Grannoms still hatching in the am, lots of Caddis hatching all day (I think they were tan but didn’t catch any so can’t confirm), and some Crane Flies.
Fished the LJ Friday, Saturday, and Sunday morning. Water was clear and at a great level although seasonally low. Happy to report this brown trout fishery appears to be doing very well. Lots of rising trout, mostly to Caddis. Trout were receptive to #16 tan elk hair caddis. I had to skitter the EHK in flat water to imitate the fluttering naturals – great fun. They were more receptive to drag free drifts in broken water. Love fishing the LJ in late April.
