I was meeting up with @afishinado in the afternoon and two days on the Little J. The weather looked ideal and water levels seemed pretty good.

Before meeting with Tom I stopped at one of the tribs for the Little J at about noon. The water was pretty clear and at about 58 degrees. The weather was nice with mixed clouds and sun in the low 60s. I saw one other guy on the stream about one mile upstream. Caddis, sulphurs and a few BWO were coming off sporadically. Trout we rising with a few regulars coming up. I started with a caddis fly and caught a few. It seemed to slow up and switched over the sulfur and got a nice one right away. Very nice conditions.

Then met up with Tom around 3:00 and we proceeded to the Little J for some late day fishing. The weather was the same and water was running at about 375 CFS. We moved around a few times finding a stretch of water that was too high. Some areas of the Little J are tougher at that level and others work better. we settled into a spot for the evening and thought we would be in good shape. The hatches were none existence for the evening, which was a big surprise. We did manage land a few nymphing.

We did make the last stop of the day at the Spruce Creek Tavern for a few beers, a burger and fries. BTW the tavern grill close at 9:00 pm. It rained a lot more than forecasted that evening pushed the water up to 1200 CFS and chased us off the stream the next day.

Any of you old timers who frequented Spruce Creek tavern, do you remember a regular at the bar by the name of Breezy? My sister in law and her husband owned a cabin on Spruce Creek and said that no matter when they went to the tavern, Breezy was there. I guess he was an unforgettable character.
