Fished these 2 waters all day on 12/26. Found the fishing very good at both locales. But what amazed me, was the lack of fisherman. I usually see more guys while on these waters, today saw just a few on spruce and no one on the j. Interesting.

As far as the fishing, myself, my dad, and a friend were fishing. 1 fly angler, 2 spin. All caught quite a number of fish, with some nice ones in the j up to 17”. Spruce was not as productive for numbers but as usual gave up some very nice fish, Browns up to 23 in and a few 20 plus in. bows, big stockers lol. All in all a good day though, just a heads up for those interested in these streams.

Couple of things to note here...

1. A lot of people had to work this year on the day after Christmas this year because of where it fell during the week.

2. Late flintlock and archery open on the 26th. Lots of fly fishers are also traditionalist hunters and participate on the opening day.

3. Flows have been rediculously high on the J this year causing people to think twice about traveling any distance to fish it.

4. It’s winter.

Glad you had some great success and don’t worry they will be lined up for the grannoms in the spring time.

I thought Spruce was all private water except for the George Harvey section?

Right on man. I have permission on a very short private stretch. Very short lol

There are two open public stretches on Spruce creek- Indian caverns
