from 8am-5pm from lower end of espy pool to first island downstream. heavy overcast, decending, mist, light rain. 54-57 degrees! some leaves have decided to jump from the trees. water conditions ideal.
I walked up to the espy pool at 8am and worked my way downstream through the (numbered?) riffles and pockets with my homejob soft-hackels, plain or with peanuts in fast water, keeping it a few inches under on a down/across swing. The fish came quick with plenty of fight, lost 3 times as many as landed, most in the 9-10" range, a ~15" brown, two ~13" beeve rainbows, maybe a dozen brown AND rainbow fingerlings. Does anyone still put these here? Are the rainbows reproducing also? They did look strong and have parr marks. Finished 5pm at lower end of spridge property (picnic shelter, port-a-john) in that riffle. It's a long time to cover a short distance, but there were so many trouty lookin' runs and I never tried it through there before; just walked it on my way out. Although I pulled out the right number, I don't remember catching so many fingerlings and so few large fish. It's probably just me. Is there an eagle living there? Something big is flying around, and not just the herrons.
