Little J – 4/12/ 2013
Fished the Little J yesterday. Myself, ligoniera1, Donny and David all played hooky and hit the river. We arrived and hiked up the gorge @ Barree. We were on the water by 9 am or so. The river was a little high at just over 500 cfs but wadeable with caution.
Air temps in the morning were in the 50’s and temps rising all day into the 70’s. The grannoms started around 10 – 10:30 and the fish were rising steadily for an hour or so. Then the trout more or less quit looking up for the rest of the day. There were a few risers here and there throughout the day but the steady action was during the first hour of the hatch. Fish were landed on dries by everyone and a few were taken on nymphs. Black CDC grannoms were the ticket on top. There were rumors of Hendricksons and a handful were spotted. Bugs were out all day.
One of the best places in the world to spend a spring day and we had the entire Gorge to ourselves.
