i am havin a rep done of him...this guy has done trout for me before and they are better looking than skin mounts..when its finished i will show you what it looks like...actually its funny you say that there was a rainbow in that same area...i saw the fish but could not get it to take anything. its not the size of this one though i am guessing its 18-20 inches. anyone still fly fishing at all in the lancaster area i would like to meet up with some people cause i really don't know the area
Glad to hear you put that fish back. I know you said that in your previous post, but it was unclear once you mentioned about getting a mount done. Lititz Run is home to some large hogs and the reason they got that way is because they are released when caught. If this fish doesn't find a new home by the spring, chances are he will be creeled by the "put and take" crowd.
I know the rainbow you speak of and his lie is probably only 50 feet upstream of where you got that brown. He sits at the end of a run and guards it pretty well. I went after him a couple times, but with Lititz Run, you only get one or two chances before they get "skittish" and they're put down.
There are still people fishing, but personally speaking, my lower threshold is in the 35-40 degree range. Cleaning guides and breaking ice every-other-cast just isn't my idea of fun!
i actually moved this fish down a couple of holes. By the time that i got him to shore cause the water was up we were down a ways. I hope this guys makes it through all of the people that keep fish from there. he didn't get that big being stupid. what are some other good areas to fly fish in this area. i grew up in weikert on penns creek and that is all i know i just want to fish something close to that in the lancaster area to flyfish. Thanks for all the comments i am glad i found this site!
That would make sense. The last I knew he was upstream a bit on the other side of the Clay Road bridge, but south of the sewer treatment plant discharge...
As far as where to fish in Lancaster County, a good start would be here. Also check the "Stream Reports" section and you'll find reports of local streams. There is a lot of information contained within this site.
i was out on lititz run this past week, new years day and the day after,,it was cold thats for sure,,i got one fish each day both browns in the area of 20" but i was on the private water. saterday morning was brutal only lasted about an hour or so.
anytime someone wants to fish in lancaster county i am in. just looking for some people to fish with. my cell is 570-412-5495. I am a real estate agent in the area so i can always make time to fish. where is the catch and release area at on this stream?
Yeah, he was stocked...like five or six years ago! :-D This stream was "impaired" at one point and they have had great success in cleaning it up over the years. It's at the point where there is limited reproduction of rainbows if I'm not mistaken...
