Weather: Overcast to Sunny. Humid. Air Temp 82-86 degrees
Water: Clear, 67 degrees
Fly Patterns: Terrestrials

I decided to hit up Lititz Run while visiting my folks this weekend. I set my alarm for 0530 and ended up sleeping until about 0900 instead. It was still overcast when I awoke, so I headed to stream. It has been at least a year since I have used my 7' 4wt Cortland and decided that I wanted to take it for a walk. Being so late in the morning, I figured that my chances of hooking into a larger trout were slim. I arrived on the stream at about 1030 and immediately started casting to a nice brown. The 2nd fly choice did the trick and after a slight battle on my little 4wt I had the 19.5" brown to the net. I caught several more including a 16-17" brown during 2 hours of fishing. The stream seems to be doing quite well this year. The fish are still quite spooky and a proper approach and good cast is needed; however, it is nice to see the stream with a good number of fish. I usually take a 9ft 5wt on Lititz Run, but it was very enjoyable to fish using my smallest fly rod today. The two biggest fish today were my two largest that I have landed on my 7' 4wt. I need to start using this rod on bigger streams instead of just saving it for the small, wild trout streams. Nonetheless, I caught some nice fish today.

This is the best LR has been in YEARS. The amount of water we got has been great, and it's kept the run in great shape. They put in 400+ fish for the "On the Fly" tournament in late May, and they're doing quite well.

How do i get to lititz run? I can never find it and my gps killed itself.
I live in Lancaster hoping that helps get me there?

Creek Rd, dude. It's easy. The C&R section is right there. There's a parking lot, and just hop the fence. There's angler latters and everything. Land owner's name is John. Super nice guy who wants to make a great sport fishery through is property. He's zealous about stoping the meat heads who "harvest" the fish, and is great to talk to about the water there.

Hope I don't sound like a moron....but is this part Lititz Run open to the public or do I have to donate to millport to fish there? Thanks!

The FFO C&R stretch is open to the public. The stretch where you need a badge (MillPort Conservancy) is very well marked.

Thanks man! Nice blog, by the way! I've bookmarked it and will check back often...

Nah.... that'd be closer to Donegal Creek/ Chiques Creek. Just go to Google Maps and look up Creek Road, Lititz PA and you should find it.

Ok thanks I have found it.... Are there any parking areas? I did not see any on the Satellite map.

Ok got it..... funny enough just a couple miles up the road... I will have to make a stop there for sure.
