hey guys,
The weathers been nothing short of spectacular. I havent posted in a long while for various reasons. i see the board hasent changed much and people still like to slam peoples fishing experiences. Nice work on meadow Run alby, those are some nice fish and slate its a stocked stream youll live. I want you guys to try and remember that global warming is happening and Pennsylvania is in danger of losing 50% or more of its cold water resource. Maybe its time we stop being so dang tight lipped about streams so everyone can have the chance to enjoy them. With that said, the main reason I havent been on is because 1) no internet now and 2) working on publishing a book im writing.
Now to the good stuff. Lititz Run was absolutely beautiful yesterday. I saw a pretty significant brown caddis hatch coming off, which is unusal for this stream. Could its hatches be returning? The water level looked great and the temperture was a cool 59 degrees.
I fished the upper area of the C&R section. With all the caddis buzzing about I put on a brown caddis with elk hair wings and a brown caddis emerger. I was casting to a large brown who did nothing but mock me and my offerings. While casting to him a 18" rainbow came out from a log jam and took the dry. Did it so fast it made me jump. A short fight later the fish was in hand. The brown throughily sppokked now, the hole was dead.
Upstream at the spring house was a huge rainbow. I didnt even have a chance he took off. I didnt pack a lunch so I kept moving.
Anyways even though I only landed one fish the day was gorgous and it beat doing anything else. Side note: I was at the little schyulkill about 2 weeks ago. The section i was in was above the bait area and we were catching little wild rainbows. the area is absolutely gorgous and almost reminds me of northcentral pa. its worth taking a look. tight lines and goodluck :-D
