Went out for a few hours before my bands show tonight to relax and let the dog run through the feilds.
Was really windy and the fish were not very active even with the few breaks in the clouds. Water was good. Cold, not too high and slightly off color. Caught 1 rainbow and missed 1. I then hooked onto this. Wore my arm out. Hardest fighting fish I've caught to date. Hate to see how strong he is in the spring when the air and water temps are up a bit more.

I fished Lititz Run on 3/3. I got a new rod a few weeks ago and had to try it out. I hooked into two but did not land them. I also experienced something new. I hooked a 6" chub on an egg pattern and while I was bringing it in an ~18" trout came up and inhaled the entire fish. The chub got away and the trout came back and got it from the side. I played the trout for about 2 minutes, hoping that I would be able to land it. Eventually the trout released the chub and I brought the lifeless fish to hand. I had been using a size 10 wooly bugger for part of the day. I guess I should have used one that was 5" longer! Nonetheless, it was a nice day to go and try the new rod. The rod is a Thomas & Thomas Horizon Series.

Nice fish! I have a gnawing question, however: who took the photo? The dog? 😛

Never caught a chub in Lititz, ever. Interesting.

Good one Jack! I wish. He'd make me rich. Actually my wife took it on her cell phone.

That is one hog of a fish. Looks like somthing you would catch somewhere like New Zealand or out west.
