Spent a couple hours with my girlfriend today, showing her a stretch of water downstream from town. Took a couple garbage bags along, todays catch: two or three soccer balls, two playground balls, a bike helmet, a couple doggy toy balls, small football, deflated beachballs, three or four mismatched flip flops, a sneaker, swim kickboard, foam pool stick thingy, a toy sword, one big bag stuffed full of plastic bottles and another full of mostly styrofoam and plastic bags/wrappers and cups...and there's plenty more out there, ugh.

Saw a couple fish on very subtle redds while we were out, but nothing like what's happening up in the heritage water where the browns are really starting to 'get it on'. Saw lots of big clouds of midges over the water, but no fish working the surface.

Two thumbs up! That the best "haul" from Letort I've seen anyone take out recently.

The lower Letort always seems junked up with trash (esp after storms) but every little bit taken out is a good step.

Kudos Tom.

good for you two.

damn plastic never dies. it just floats around for ever.

i hope the fishing gods reward you on the water appropriately 😉

Good for you, Tom.

It's a shame that some people will wreck our wonderful streams...... but they are only a few idiots?

Nice job!

thanks guys, hoping to hit another stretch in the near future.

1wt: The problem isn't that it's only a few, it's that everybody is doing it. This is downstream from town, so anything that blows out of a recycling bin set out on the curb or that's washed out of somebody's yard during a summer thunderstorm (gotta be where the pool toys come from) pretty much ends up in the stream and floats on down. Lots and lots of log jams thru there to strain out the junk before it goes too far, otherwise a lot of it would probably just float on down to the Conidiguenent.
