Letort Spring Run, Cumberland County, 8/15/23

Some decent storms came through overnight, so I thought I’d try some early streamer fishing on the Letort. The water was slightly up and off-color. Was out for about two hours on the stream from 5:45-7:45 am. About an hour fishing and an hour just watching. Had one 12-14 inch fish swipe at at black bugger. Had a second, bigger 18-20 inch brown materialize out of a weed bed to clobber my fly. Had it on for about ten seconds but it got so tangled in a weed bed that the hook pulled. Such is life on the Letort.

Wow, gorgeous photos (as usual)!

I walked some of the bike path yesterday afternoon and spent some time watching the stream. Always worth the time.

I'd guess Sulphur spinner. You'd need to ask someone else for the Latin.
