Fished for about three hours in the afternoon on the Letort today. Air temp was in the mid 70s and there was a ton of bug activity, but I didn’t see a single rise the entire day. Although the flows were normal, arguably on the lower side compared to what they have been recently, the water was stained from last nights rain making the visibility poor.
I fished the stretch from the sports emporium to just below the turnpike bridge and used a black articulated dungeon streamer the entire time. I had four strikes and landed one wild brown, a solid 11.5 inch fish. Two of my missed strikes were from fish of similar size, but one fish looked to be 14-16 inches long. It came up the behind the streamer and just bumped it, so there was no real shot at hooking it.
There were some really deep holes around some logjams and fallen trees that looked like they could hold some monsters. Returning when the conditions are better is probably the way to go as I suspect that none of the lunkers were feeding today. And maybe fishing during low light periods and/or night fishing would turn up some bigger fish.
