Dont have temps but the air temp was comfy and the fish would probably say the same of the water.
Saw a couple larger brown mayflies as did Atlantisboy, along with some caddis and the usual midges. Sporadic rising activity.
Ants took a few for Atlantisboy and I took a few on hoppers. I made a cast that impressed even myself, just kinda casted to see if I could make it, and sure enough the unexpected big boy comes up from the depths and inhales it and I choke and snap him off in about .5 seconds. Its been a couple years since Ive taken one of the big ones there on a hopper and its still nagging me a bit this morning. 🙂
But I've been doing well enough there lately and it was great to have Jules get his first Letortian after his ritual skunkings there like so many before.
Move slooooooowwww.
If you see a landowner cutting grass anywhere near the bank, get downstream and get ready.

sounds like a good day! i was there the other day myself and caught a few on hoppers. i had big one come up and look at it, but it rejected it at the last second. it almost made my heart stop! that fish was darn close to two feet long.

Sounds like a great day. Only fished the Letort once before about 30 years ago. I still smell like skunk from that one.

Nice Dan, I know that nagging feeling well. Guessing you were downstream if you were near anything that gets mowed....I got out this evening for the sunset in the Heritage stretch. Worked on a pair of 18-20"ers, spooked 'em both...they sure are skittish when feeding shallow over the weed beds. Amazing to sit and watch 'em munch munch munch though, I should really try to take some video one of these days.
