Letort Cumberland County 8/2/2008

Fished the Letort today for a little over an hour (11:30-12:45pm). I was greeted by crystal clear water to go along with hatchery rainbows and palominos from the recent trout derbies. I managed a beautiful 16" brown that was copper in color with about ten large black spots total, and butter yellow abdomen. In addition, I caught three hatchery rainbows ranging from 9-13". I was tempted to remove them from the stream, and have a fish fry for the in-laws but I didn't have the heart. All told, I probably spotted close to 50 rainbows and three palis in the two blocks I fished. Fish were VERY SPOOKY and seem to have taken on the behavior of the wild browns already present. All fish were caught sightfishing a #14 BH Green Weenie with a microshot about 4" above the fly. When I receive an answer from the PFBC regarding the stocking of the Letort, I will post an update for anyone interested. Tight Lines
