Letort , Cumberland Co., 12/28/2022

I know which statue you are referring to. A few years ago I was fishing that area and didn't want to get too close to the person fishing above me. As I moved closer while still deciding if it was a man or a woman I finally realized it was a creepy statue. I nearly asked if it doing any good.

Now I'm intrigued...

Is this stature above or below the old RR trestle that crosses the creek just above "Otto's Meadow?

Pretty sure he’s talking about the statue you see downstream if you’re standing on the RR bridge. I too have mistaken it for another angler out of the corner of my eye.

I think that is it. I guess it was closer to the bridge than I thought. I was to busy looking under the bridge for a 30-incher to look downstream.

I guess I haven't been up to Otto's in some time because I've never seen it...

Is it upstream or downstream of the house?

It’s right behind the house. Thank you for sharing Shenk’s map. It is neat to reference the experiences of the old guys to the locations we know. I wish I could have fished it back then.

That's coincidental because my avatar photo of the old special regulation "Limestone Springs Wild Trout" signage was taken just below Otto's back in 2006.

I need to get up there this year and see that statue 'cause I've never seen it.

It's very near the house, last time I saw it was all dressed up with mardi gras beads

On Ed Shenks map .... where would the mailbox be ... with the old calendar / notebook in it? its downstream of the monuments ... no?

Behind the Stone Farmhouse

I guess I'm confused again... Which "stone farmhouse" is the statue "behind?"

FWIW - On the Shenk map the "mailbox" is/was in the middle of the "Barnyard Meadow." That is about 100 yards UPSTREAM of the I-81 crossing and about 20 yards DOWNSTREAM of the Fox & Marinaro monuments in Vince's Meadow.

Neither I-81 or Vince's Meadow are on the Shenk map, however the "Rosebush" on the Shenk map is about where the path from the Letort is to the monuments and the CVTU pavilion. I-81 crosses the Letort where the "Turnaround" is on the Shenk map," just above the "19th Hole."

The stone farmhouse in the "Barnyard Meadow" was known as the "Laudenschlager Farm" back in the day and is/was supposed to become a bed & breakfast called the "Fountain House."

The OTHER stone farmhouse is "Otto's" located in "Otto's Meadow" that IS on the Shenk map and about a half mile UPSTREAM of the Barnyard, mailbox & the monuments. Otto's farmhouse is just below the old Reading RR trestle that now serves as a footbridge over the Letort along the Letort Spring Run Nature Trail.

I marked up the Shenk map to show I-81, the mailbox, Vince's Meadow & the monuments and I circled the other places on the map:

Where is the "statue" in proximity to Bonnybrook Road?

Not trying to be a wise *** but there are some huge carp in the Letort, especially in that vicinity.

Again not disputing big fish as I once caught a beast under I-81 on a crayfish intimation, but is your son sure what he saw was a trout?
He was certain it was a brown trout and got quite close with polarized sunglasses to confirm, after he was unable to raise it with anything he had in his fly box. As for the size estimate...
