I headed out to the LeTort yesterday around 3pm as the rain was pouring down. I arrived at the lower end of the stream where it dumps into the Connie, but quickly left as the runoff from RT. 11 turned it into an unfishable torrent. I wound up fishing the stream behind the Blue Beacon Truck Wash for a short distance, then I reentered the stream behind the old ball park and fished all of the way up to the fence that extends over the water as you near the Army Barracks. If you are looking to experience the LeTort and enjoy moderate success, you should explore away from the Heritage Area. Trust me, the sp. reg area is NOT the best the water has to offer...I switched on/off depending on the stretch btw a beadhead olive/black bugger, #16 olive flashback scud, #16 beadhead prince. I picked up over a dozen fish on the three flies and missed quite a few more on the bugger-though some of them looked like they were just screwing with me by banging the tail. I had one hook-jaw brown that was easily 24-25" cruise real slow behind my fly. I would let the fly drop on the bottom and he would stop and look at it. I would give it a quick strip as this usually baits them to slam it, but not this one. He looked like he might have played the game before. This fish had black spots on it that looked like the size of dimes. He got within ten feet of me and bolted for parts unknown. Sunday, I'm going to try some of the water in town that has been on my list to do, and then I'm going to take a run over to Trindle Spring and see what that is up to these days. :-D
