Floated the Lehigh on Saturday around Walnutport. Tried a popper and the first one was a 17.5 inch smallie, my best for the year on the Lehigh. The water was still quite comfortable for wet wading, get it while you can. Things were slow in the AM but picked up as the water warmed. Caught good numbers poppers and streamers. I also was shocked to catch 3 brown trout on a small popper. The first shock was the trout were in this normally warm-water area, so they must have held over well. The second shock was that they were smacking the popper. Wow!

I must say the lehigh browns are doing very well this year, I hammered them in the gorge last night. In two hours I caught at least ten, all between 12-18 inches. A few big chubs as well. Good hatches of olives, slate drakes and sulphurs( or whatever they really are, size 16 pale yellow mayfly) I haven't fished anywhere else in the past 3 weeks and I have caught at least a few nice browns every time. They look very healthy. Who needs fall stockings? Lol
