I was upset by the fact that it had been almost two years since I had done any fishing for SMBs. I had some extra time this weekend and decided to make it a point to to some river fishing.

I hit the river first (Carbon Co.) on Sat, and I was lucky to have my dad as a partner for the evening. Water temp was about 70 deg. with a slight stain...no excuses here. The bite was slow, but we each managed a bass. My dad was working the spin rod and caught his bass on a small senko worm on a deep swing. At this point, I hadn't felt a bump while stripping/drifting...why not try the swing?

Sure enough...

Reminded me how hard even a small river fish can pull.

This morning I hit another spot below a dam in Lehigh Co. Fished the pool below the dam, and managed one more little guy...same fly...on the swing. Crappy pic...

Not the best outings for size/numbers, but it felt good to switch things up and fish the big water again.

Nice outing and nice black streamer!

See/hear any cicadas down that far?

No signs of life.

I was up near Hickory Run earlier in the day and saw a few dead ones, but I never thought to check around the river. I'm guessing I would have heard something if they were around though.

You would have heard them. They are real spotty. Toward the middle of 4th Run in Hickory Run, they were noisy Sunday, but they are not prevalent.

Cicadas are now done here in my part of Carbon.

Suprising you didn't do better on the smallies.
