Lehigh River, Carbon county, 9/19/2010

Fished with my buddy Little Lenny, Tom and a new friend and guide Jake on the Lehigh in the Carbon County area. We Started fishing around 5 o'clock and it did not take long to find fish and a couple of nice hatches going on. There was a small flying ant hatch right when we arrived. Quickly though the Bwo's and some large Sulphurs began to take over and the fish proceeded to respond. Tom broke off on a trout easily 20'' and then proceeded to catch another 4 or 5 before we called it quits. I caught a nice "Wild" or fingerling brown from the year before in the 8'' range, not sure but it was a very bluish colored brown. I ended losing 2 more and missing 4 or 5. Jake caught 3 or 4 all on Sulphurs. Lenny had the best afternoon by far by catching 5 river chubs 🙂. The lehigh is really starting to heat up for the Fall season. Water Temp was 59 degree's.

What happened to Po? I was gonna drag Jay up there this morning but 1) I was too hung over and 2) it was out of his way.

Well Ed and I were going to fish the Lehigh this morning but his job interfered in his fishing schedule lol.

I caught a nice "Wild" or fingerling brown from the year before in the 8'' range, not sure but it was a very bluish colored brown.

If it didn't have its adipose fin clipped, it was a wild trout.

Yea it did not have a fin clipping. That was the first thing I checked and was yelled at by my bud Tom down river from me, to check. guess I caught a wild Brown then 🙂 saweet.

They are clipping the adipose fins of fingerlings on the Little J, not at other fingerling-stocked streams and rivers.

I'd be curious to fish the po with y'all, J&J, if it falls into my crowded scheduele of doing nothing.

I'm risking it all by tempting fate by going there again, although I probably would skate by coz I'm not actually looking to fish, I'd like to observe the nymph thing in effect and annoy jdaddy to boot.

Depending on how the D is fishing, maybe sunday evening. If not, sometime in October. Perhaps after the TU cleanup? Looks like nobody is taking my berks county offer.

Good stuff. I hope they'll keep expanding that. For example on the Clarion River. Some of those browns are probably wild.

Maybe even in the Yough.

Why fish the Po when you can fish the Lehigh? I would not torture you like that Gfen, I know you have had some bad luck with that wicked stream.
