Lehigh River, Carbon County, 8/22/14

Cousin and I floated from Dunbars to Btown bridge. Decided water was still to warm to target trout, so took the spin rod out with some watermelon Gary Yammamotos fished wacky style. Slayed smallies. If I could lend a guess I boated near 50 and missed 50. Probably close to the same for my cousin. Many in the 14-16 inch range.

Saw many trout rise in the last hour and half of light halfway between the Pohopoco confluence and the Btown bridge. That is not a section you can wade if anybody was looking to target them. Iso and olives were scattered. Good to see so many trout and wished I would have brought the 5wt to mess with them.

Neat report - sounds like some mighty fine bassin in that river. I'd think if they're so hot for soft plastics or other gear, you ought to be able to have some respectable success on streamer flies.

I really need to get over and fish the Lehigh sometime.

I do enjoy targeting them with the fly gear especially poppers. Just felt like going old school today with the spinning rod. You ever decide to come up here I have an extra toon for you to use.

I wish I could get up during the week but work gets in the way. Should be fine this fall all over the river once they stop the blowouts.
I'm headed to some tribs today up in the gorge.

Nice report Becks. Last weekend I was out early below that and saw a darn good trico hatch with an occasional fish on them. I've been catching an occasional trout although I am not targeting them.

Its a shame there is a white water release this weekend as I am sure the fishing would have been good with the weather we are currently having. Although I have had some good am fishing prior to the release slug getting to Palmerton on flying ants this time of year.

The fall fishing this year on the Lehigh is going to be really good imo.

Beebs, my cousin the other day caught 2 bows fishing Yammamotos. I had a brown close to 20 inches follow mine yesterday all the way back to my toon. Just had to laugh.

Shane I believe that for sure. And I agree with vcregular. Outlook for the fall on the Lehigh is looking very good for multi-species.

Yea, went down to the river to scope it out. It is roaring and brown. Between the release and the rain it is unfishable.
