The Lehigh hates me. Or I've forgotten how to fish. Maybe both.
My success near home continues, and traveling continues to be a disaster.
I returned to the Lehigh for the second time in as many weeks yesterday, this time with a buddy. Fished Glen Onoko area again and once again could not pull fish out of water I was certain would hold fish. I'm not sure how many fish are around here, as both trips have seen bait fisherman also not pulling anything out.
Ditched out of that area and headed on the longer-than-expected drive to the Rockport access, arriving around 2:30 or so.
Stumbled across the river and proceeded to throw everything we possibly had at them for the next hour and a half, without ever taking a fish. We tried a dozen different dries, emergers, nymphs and wets. Fished dead drifted, swung, twitched, you name it. Absolutely could not figure out what they wanted. Unbelievably frustrating.
There were Hendricksons, at least two types of caddis, midges and something else that my buddy identified as yellow sallies, but I'm never sure about that ID.
Anyway, after the failure during the hatch my buddy managed to land three including a very nice 17-18" brown (pic attached). I hooked up one very big fish that, for all of 3 seconds, was pulling line off my reel which had its drag set way too tight. Then it was gone. That was it.
So yeah, another long winded posts to basically say I've evidently forgotten how to @#!@# catch fish.
Pics attached, first from the same location as last week. Rest from Rockport area.
