Lehigh River, Carbon County, 4/1/ 2012

I have not been on the Lehigh for a couple weeks since flows have rose. I think I am going to try to get back out this week. I am looking forward to Sulphur chasing. Anybody is in the area during the week shoot me a Pm, I am only not availible mid afternoon Tuesday and Friday night.
 
Always have cleats, a wading belt(cinch it tight when you cross) and a stick or staff. The river has many places that the fishable banks swtiches back and forth, and you're going to reposition. Be careful, even at 300cfs, above 80, there are banks that just drop to 4 feet off a 1 foot shelf, even though your polarized glasses may be telling you otherwise. The current force will be a shock.

The dep should get some signs up for the rafting companies and boaters about Didymo, always citing felt soles from anglers, pfftt. Try to donate 100/year to LRSA. I don't agree with all they do, but they do a lot of good, like mine work, and they are on high alert for enviro-crimes.
 
I've fished the Lehigh around the White Haven area and it never struck me as a "wading-friendly" body of water. I was always under the impression it was best fished via a watercraft of some sort... Perhaps I need to visit different stretches for better wading, but I've always respected the river and never attempted to wade very aggressively.
 
Fished in the rain yesterday at the Tannery and below. Saw many bait containers and caught stockies. Fished a beautiful riffle but could only pull two out, one on a nymph and one on a dry. The water temp was 55 and caddis and sulphurs were the main flyers.
The river is wadable but never in a friendly way, even when the flows are low the prevailing bowling ball sized rocks covered in slime are an exercise in foot placement. No pics, you guys know what they look like.
 
The rocks or the fish? I know both pretty well. Btw, river will be blown till middle of next week I am sure.
