I had a lovely Memorial Day morning catching trouts on the lower part of Laurel Hill today. Early on, the pink worms must have been active sub-surface. I caught a number of fish on the pink worm before RyanH arrived and two more fish while he was rigging his rod. The pink worm action slowed down, but not before I caught a 10 inch smallmouth.

Ryan and I both caught a few fish on streamers for a while. We got as far upstream as JackM's secret honey hole. Streamers quit working, so we switched to Pheasant Tail nymphs and each caught a few in Jack's secret hole.

On the way out, we bumped into JackM. I hardly recognized him with his play-off beard. Jack had caught one on top (sulpher) on the way up. We checked the water temp at about 11:45 AM, it was 56 degrees. Ryan and I had to get to our cook-outs, so we left Jack to fish alone and headed down to the cars. I had a brief flurry of action on green weenies on the way out.

Nice morning! Nice to fish with friends from the board.

Sounds great...'till I get all this pool landscaping done...I won;t get out much...I might try to sneak away to watch the game tonight though...

The secret walk-by hole produce about 7 on top for me and a few misses as well. I also caught a handful of other fish in various spots. They weren't picky up there, but I came back to the deep hole at the bottom of the project and there were a dozen fish actively working the surface. I caught one in the last hour and a half. I believe they were taking caddis or other emergers, but I couldn't find a decent match. the one I got there was on a march brown emerger cdc that had to be pulled under a drug through their lie to produce a strike. Sorry our paths crossed so briefly.

I have very rarely seen such a display of piscatorial dominance as the one Albatross put on the first hour we fished together. It was comical, I would fish a spot and get nothing and leave in disguist....and Alby would literally catch a fish where I was standing.

Both the stream and the fish were in great shape. They were colored up pretty well so they have been in there a while.

It is always a pleasure to fish with others. No matter how much you already know, you get exposed to other people's tricks and tactics. I know it has made me a better fisherman.
