Time Fished: 2:00 - 8:30
Air Temp: 63
Water Temp: 65
Stream Flow: Excellent, strong flow with greenish tint in deeper runs and pockets
Fish Caught: 7 (4 rainbows, 3 browns)
Bugs seen: A few small caddis, crane flies galor, small BWO, tons o midges
Flies Used: Hares ear wet #14 , small ant #18, beetle #14, several midges #22-24
Comments: Great cool day that felt more like October than the end of June. Fished the upper special regs area. The fish tended to be congregated near the tribs, but there still seem to be good numbers. The slow water section upstream of the parking area seemed to be void of fish. I wonder if the warmer weather moved them closer to the tribs. Downstream, the fish seemed to be fairly spread out. I had to work for all the fish. There was a pod midging in the slower water right at the parking area and I had to spend some time adjusting and changing up until I hooked a couple. No size to the fish. Biggest was maybe 13. These fish were not easy.
Catch of the day: While fishing about a 1/4 mile below the parking area, I pulled a fly box merrily floating its way downstream. It was packed full of small corkers, foam attractors and some very interesting, non-traditional ties. I worked my way back upstream asking the few anglers along the way if they lost a box. No go. Finally I got to the last angler I could see. And returned the box to its rightful owner.
