I fished this morning from 6 to noon. The flow ws just right for this time of year (around 230 CFS) and the water had just a little color. Air temps ranged from 55 to 75 while I was there. I didn't take a stream temp, but I'd guess around 60.
Early on I had success with a large pheasant tail nymph. Saw a few caddis and a very few March Browns. There weren't enough bugs hatching to get the fish in a surface feeding rhythm, but I found the fish would readily rise for any large mayfly dry. I caught a number of fish on a size 12 green drake imitation (closest thing I had to the large March Brown naturals I observed). I caught most of my fish in open water under general regs. I think the whole 30 miles of this stream is fishing well right now!
