Laurel Hill Creek, Somerset Co., 03/09/2013

A few buddies and I went and helped stock the creek and then did a little fishing. Water was low and clear, I saw a few bugs floating down the water, unsure of what they were but no prominent hatch or anything. We caught them on just about everything, stonefly nymphs, pheasant tails, and green leaches seemed to do the best. We ended the day with 37 in total. It was a nice day, water was still pretty cold, no thermometer so I couldn't tell you exactly how cold. The fish seemed to be of average size with a few around 16 or 17 inches.

Which county is this stream?
There are about three dozen "Laurel" runs/creeks in PA. Due to confusion over this sort of thing, we respectfully request that you identify the county in the title line. Not a big deal - please note how the other titles are formatted.

I knew I was missing something when I posted this, just couldn't remember what it was haha, sorry it was the DHALO section of Laurel hill creek above the lake in Somerset county

74 to be exact!

76 if you include Laurelly and Laurely.

This was once a favorite section of mine. In years past the lake would provide some fish via winter stocking, and the stream usually produces a good early Black Stone. I had a few late Winter/ early Spring days that were quit memorable. Good for you for helping with the stocking.

DaveS I really like that creek, scenery is nice along with the fishing. And truth be told, I like helping stocking, its fun to watch the fish swim out once you throw them in.... you also get to know where they put them haha
