Curious for a new destination; thought I would try Laurel Hill Creek today. (Laurel Highlands- Somerset/Fayette Co.) I had not been there in 2 years.
Well, the creek was totally frozen over (not a real surprise for the mountains) and the road getting there was completely snow covered and should not be traveled unless you have 4wd. (I did'nt and it was borderline stupid) I think it will take some time before the creek is fishable again.
So the backup plan was to head the 15 miles or so to the Yough outflow. The release was about 1000 today. A little high but fishable. The fishing was good today. Caught many good sized stocker rainbows and smallish palomino trout (my first). All were caught on BHPT size 16. I did'nt even bother trying anything else since it was working. It might have gotten to 40 degrees but the sun was nice and warm with little or no wind.
Maybe a half dozen other guys out as well. Good day.
