Kish/Tea, Mifflin Co. 12/8/07

Fish the kish and first half mile of the tea today. Fished from about 11:30 -- 4:00. Caught 35 - 40 fish all on small PT's. Most fish were small bow ranging from 6" to 12". Only caught 2 browns both about 10".
The tea was packed with brown, but as usual, the fish were haning in weird unfishable places. Saw probably a dozen fish over 15" in the tea. I was hopnig to hook into one of those monsters on such a small stream.
The kish got colder as I approached reedsville, where the tea poars in. The tea was a lot warmer, probably close to 50+ degrees.

Sorry no pics today --didn't want to take the camera out in such cold weather and rish dropping it because of the snowy banks.

It looks like you had a pretty good day. I'm guessing that your rainbows constituted the fingerlings that they plant in the Kish? Your lack of success on the Tea doesn't surprise me either-I have fished the Tea quite a bit and it is tough. I've caught trout there in the most unlikely of places. One thing I will also say is that the browns in there are very pretty. I've seen lots of different variations/strains and the browns in the Tea are very unique indeed. I have caught a few of the bigger ones that are almost colored like copper ore.

I had a question for you as I'm thinking of heading to the Kish on Friday...Have you had a lot of success on the Kish in the Class A area in around Yeagertown??? I fished here once before when it was extremely cold and only moved a few fish. A few of my friends say it shows better than that so I might give it another shot. If not, I'll probably just stay on 322 and hit some tribs of Spring creek.

I have fished the class a section, but mostly at the top in Yeagertown. I have good success at the bridge in Yeagertown, which is the top of the class a section.
I fished the lower half of teh class a section during the prespawn time and caught only immature browns ranging from 4" to 10".

The bows I caught are gorgeous. Some of the fingerling are now approching 10". Plus, all of them fight like crazy. Even in the Winter, their acrobatics are spectacular.

The browns are fantastic and are loaded with color, like you said.
I think most of the browns that were in the Tea came out of the Kish because the water temps was about 10 degrees warmer in the tea than the kish.
