Leidy bridge and up around where Hammersley fork comes in

I told Phil where I caught them.
In discussing where they came from, he told me that they're stocking only rainbows and browns there now.
Mostly rainbows from what I've caught recently.
Didn't specify who, regarding the stockings
There have been some size brookies too.
Caught about 5 that were close to 10 inches this spring
Caught one last spring that was close to a foot, at Leidy.
Kinda thinking that fish came in from Trout or Beaverdam run.
No brookies caught below Leidy
Really had me wondering about their origins though
I used to catch some really nice looking browns on Pine Creek, that apparently were raised in a hatchery around that area.

To take this brookie discussion a little further, this is my take. Kettle Creek has a lot of feeder streams. Those feeder streams ALL have brookies.
So there is some level of those streams contributing brookies to the main stem of Kettle. As it warms up during the summer, there is some level of those feeder getting brookies that need summer refuge.
A stream like Trout Run has had 30 brookies staging off the mouth in some years when I fish there. The brookies stay in Kettle and they go back up when it gets too warm. They might not even go back up the trib they came from.
I catch brookies everywhere on Kettle main stem. Spicewood and Beaverdam Runs contribute brookies below Leidy.
Some of this movement is in the George Harvey book “Memories, Patterns and Tactics”. In the 60’s (I think), George spent considerable time working to eradicate Brown Trout from Kettle. As we know, there is no way to do that without killing every fish in the system. See pages 24-28.

Do you think that they're all wild?
I dont fish very much there - one trip this year, and a couple last year.
I'm sure you have a lot more experience on it lately.
Are you seeing - or know of - brookies being stocked?

No, I think some get stocked somehow. I’ve shown photos I’ve taken on here to Troutbert and he (and others) felt they were stocked.
I can create a new General thread “Brookies in Kettle - Stocked or Wild” and provide my photos to kick it off. I’ll do that tonight. I took no pics this year.
