Kettle Creek 11-2 to 11-3 07

Fished Kettle this weekend, FFO section.
Weather: Absolutely Gorgeous!
Temps: rising to near 60F during the day.
Water: Low and Gin clear, 40F to 44F

What a weekend to fish this stream,my partner and I were able to locate trout in some deeper runs and were able to hook up some nice Rainbows 12 to 14 inches. olive parachute flies, black ant,pheasant tail nymphs, and griffith gnats fooled these fish.
Although they seemed to be rising to what I think were tricos.

Highlight of the weekend, moments after playing and releasing a heafty 14in Rainbow, A Bald Eagle paid us a visit as it flew up stream directly over the stream, not more than 25 to 30 ft. above us!!

I have heard of kettle creek before. Can you tell the town it's in PA and if it is stocked.

Kettle Creek runs from Potter County, And I beleive through Carbon County where it eventually meets the Susquehanna River.
Some of the towns that i know of that border its banks are Cross Fork PA and Hammersley Fork PA.
It receives stockings in the Spring and Fall although some sections are special regulations. Check your PFBC hand book for these special reg. sections

Potter and Clinton...Look for the towns of Westport in Clinton countyand Germainia, in Potter co...its everything in between.

Yeah, Carbon would be quite a long stream...but you had the "C" right...the better parts are up in Potter anyway.

My experience is caddis from hell...in the spring I see tons of them...but I found this for you:

Kettle has some good hacthes and that chart is pertty helpful. During late spring and early summer fish with x-caddis and other attractors can be really good if the water holds out. This is for upper kettle of course, have a cabin down by the park but like to fish the upper section much more.

I've been near Leidy bridge on opening day, in clouds of caddis hatching off the cliff across from the crowds. Like Slump said, as long as there is water they'll be there.

I fished it 5 years ago or so but was not addicted yet- so dont recall much.

Although, I do remember the card game at a camp where we used 22 bullets for .25 chips and shotgun shells for $1 chips.

Also, recall we where out of beer and someone headed to "the bar" in Keating Summit. They got the "premuim beer" as the bar maid exclaimed" Michelob is an extra .25".

When the beer arrived someone open the "other cooler" on the porch which was filled with beer. haha-- fun night- stoned fools
