Chubs & panfish are starting to predominate the common lanes @ the ol' Farm Park. There are trouts to be had even as the water is slowly warming, though mid afternoon (#3pm) stream temps haven't yet risen above 58F. Seasonal flow remains mid/low and mainly clear. Did some short casts w/ 6ft 'sniping' leaders tipped w/30" of flouro_6x, pitching sideways into shadowy seeps for the fish that weren't noticeably active, but many fish were looking up and getting splashy regularly throughout the day.
Midges (18), black caddis (18-22) and wee whitish mayflys bustle about nonstop while the sun is up, of course. Also spied a few glowy drake-ish looking bugs (pistachio, or perhaps celery colored; size 12/14)... Chernobyl Cranefly maybe? Weird to see those in Norristown & was too slow on the draw to snap a pic. Saw something similiar on Oil Creek/Tionesta when i was a kid, but not since...
At any rate, played it safe & stuck with soft elk hair #16 type-stuff skittered on top or plopped under an arrested 3/4 cast. Mangaged a few fish every trip (5/10 thru 05/22) while the creek/s stayed conspicuously devoid of other fishers. Eeked out couple hat tricks as well, since the trifecta seems to be an ongoing theme this month on the boards.
