Hit some of my favorite shoreline spots this afternoon. . .
WEATHER: Cloudy with temps in the mid 40s; a bit blustery by late afternoon.
WATER: 4.7' at the Newport gauge; very clear and 42 degrees F (confirmed by thermometer). By late fall standards fishing pressure was moderate with boats out at all the predictable spots. Leaves in the water but sparse and not a problem.
FORAGE: No insects, baitfish, or anything of note.
Late November is usually near the end of my bass fishing season and today treated me fairly well: managed a half dozen bass between 12 and 18 inches and lost a few others. Not bad for shore FFing for a couple hours. All fish came on a green over white streamer or Clouser fished low and slow. Bass today were on current breaks; deeper slack water did not produce; strikes were subtle and all on the swing. I chatted up some gear anglers at the boat ramp and they did well today too.
