My brother-in-law was home for the weekend, and he is trying to learn how to fly fish. We waded the river for about an hour each evening, which was about as much time as he could sneak away from his wife and two young children. We just stayed right near my parents' place, aka the hallowed waters of the WW Jam. On the first day, the fish were very active. We caught and hooked many fish on baitfish patterns and gurglers. All fish caught this evening were small. The river was clear, and the flows were pretty normal for this time of year. Some storms rolled through that night, and on the next day, the river was about 8 inches deeper and had some murk/stain. The fishing was noticeably slower, and the current was also stronger. I caught one fish on a clouser minnow, and two fish on a brown bugger. My BIL was lucky enough to at least land one fish on that night. On this evening, I at least caught one good fish, and it pulled hard. The pic of that fish will be posted below.
On a side note, while wading through a particular stretch where I used to catch a lot of catfish, I spooked a very large catfish that I would estimate at about 15-20 lbs. Although the water was murky and stained, I would also wager that it was a flathead by its shape and coloration. These large catfish are becoming more and more numerous throughout the Juniata, and they are a growing focus among anglers.
I did not measure water temp, but I would guess that it was in the high 70's.
