Tried another spot this morning for 2.5: hrs, one that is not influenced by springs. Somewhat to my surprise, active stockies were still present, despite the heat wave of a week or so ago. Fish were also present in the most heavily fished spots...not a surprise to me. Too many fly anglers psych themselves out of good fishing because they think bait and lure anglers have harvested everything. Caught 5, lost 3, rolled 1, all on the BH GRHE. Water temp was 66 deg F. Would have kept 5, but already have 5 in the freezer. Normally for me this is the time of year to conduct “mercy killing,” uh harvest, due to the hot temps approaching and the slow death that they will produce in many stocked trout streams.

The local STWs here in Adams County still have lots of fish. . . which is typical for early June.

I agree that too many FFers, and conventional anglers too, tend to write these streams off as "fished out" by this time of year.
