Fished in Shearersville park from 8:30-10:30 AM. H2O temp was 69 F. Caught 4 RT on Prince nymph, San Juan worm, and zebra midge. Heavily fished stream that becomes exceptionally warm and low for much of the summer is still holding fish. Flow was ideal. If this stream was still cool enough to produce catches, most in SE Pa are probably cool enough as well.

Give it another week of the hot and humid and the Jordan will be done for this year. When it is flowing it is a nice stream, but it drops fast and gets very low and warm in the summer.

I agree with troutwilleatflies for 99% of the stream, but there is a stretch in downtown Allentown that has limestone spring influence, and it holds stocked trout plus wild trout through the summer.

My other point regarding where I fished is this: Based on creel suveys, the lower Jordan is the most heavily pressured stocked trout stream in the state. Not all have been surveyed, but it stands out among the many that have, and by no small amount. There are not special regs and it is stocked at a rate that is typical for a metro area. Despite the heavy pressure and the absense of special regs that many fly anglers seem to feel are necessary to keep stocked trout streams from being "fished out," you can go there and catch trout with reasonable catch rates. Too many anglers psych themselves out by assuming that stocked trout waters are quickly depleted of fish and, therefore, miss out on golden opportunities to fish over stocked fish with few other anglers or in this case nobody else around.

Mike, with all this wet weather the Jordan is flowing great.Have n't fished it but walk the dog along it.This may be a year that it will hold them right through the summer.
