Fished the heavily fished county park for 45 min leading up to dark. There were some sulphur activity and some fish rising, but I stuck with a beadhead pheasant tail nymph combined with an Al's rat w/ no indicator. Caught 3 ST and 2 RT, lost 4 others. Water temp was 66 F. Don't allow yourselves to be psyched out by high angler use by bait and lure fishermen on stocked trout streams. You will find fish to be quite cooperative.

Sounds like you had a good time Mike!

Back to the same general stretch this evening, 5/6, immediately after the rain with exactly the same set-up. Fished 50 min till dark, caught 4 RT, 1 ST, and lost two RT. No other anglers along the quarter mile that I walked.

I may fish it next time my wife visits her sister. Never fished it, perhaps you can give me some guidance.

This is worth keeping in mind.

Here in SCPA, angling pressure on stocked ATWs has really dropped off in recent weeks... even though the creeks are bank-full, cold, and the trees are just leafing out. In-season stockings are underway.

A FFer can often find good numbers of stocked fish and plenty of elbow room this time of year by hitting local stocked streams managed under general regs.
