John is largely right. it takes years to learn specific spots and how they fish - what tide and when.
the fall run everywhere has cratered, for whatever reason on the way back down the fish are staying out more often that not.
I would concentrate on creeks and estuaries in the spring.
that said I'm thinking of renting a skiff for a day or two this spring in Barnegat Bay ?
