Fished the stream at Springton Manor from 4-6:30 this evening. water level was PERFECT after the soaking rain yesterday, it was slightly higher than normal and just a tiny bit discolored. Water was cold as usual. saw a few rises which may have all been chubs, did not notice any bugs other than the gnats flying into my eyes when I took my sunglasses off.

I did very well on the typical 5-7" wild browns in the pocket water. They were way more active than usual due to the rain yesterday and were nailing a size 16 BHHE nymph. Picked up 6 in pocket water. I did not have much luck in the pools except for one pool where on back-to-back casts I caught a 9" brown and a rare native brookie, the only one I have ever seen in the Springton Manor stretch. I know there are bigger fish in that particular pool but after releasing the brookie my next cast shot too far and I had to go across the head of the pool to get my nymph back from the tree. Probably could have picked up a few more but I was hungry and decided to call it a day. 8 is as good as I've ever done on that stream. Usually I get only 2 or 3.

The fish in this stream may run on the small side but they're like little rockets when they're hooked, one today lept a solid three feet above the water! You can tell how strong they are just by holding one, they're solid muscle. Well adapted to the fast flowing rocky stream they live in.

Took only two pictures today and too focused on fishing to bother with videos 🙂

Beautiful fish. Never fished this stream.
 
Keep up the great reports. I may fish that creek in the near future.

Depending on how much it rains today, tomorrow could be a very good day to go, maybe even Friday too if we really get a lot of rain. Everything in the area is fishing pretty well right now even without the rain, i think you will do fine whenever you can make it.
 
Nice report, however, I feel like Indian is a fragile resource, especially during this time of year when low flows and high temps take over. Looks like a couple of others are attentive to it now.

Why, is it not on the reproductive stream list or the Class A list so that nobody else knew about it???

sorry if you view this report as a spot-burn. I personally have no concerns about this stream getting a little extra attention, not because the fishing is that great but rather because it's really not, and anyone who fishes here in the normal clear water conditions will realize that there is better fishing elsewhere. I don't want to start a whole big argument about spot-burning here (thus bringing more attention to the thread) so if you feel differently, I think we should just agree to disagree and let this report fade away.
 
Not only is it on the "Natural Reproduction List", it runs through a public park!!!!! Everyone who fishes around here knows about it. I'll be looking for all those guys from west of harrisburg flocking to this stream over the weekend. Get over yourself Streamer-Stripper and do a little more research.
 
LOL @ Webby! I was thinking that when I typed that sentence. The real question is, does Fadeaway want to fish the stream?
 
OK, I am over myself - wow, that felt good, thanks for the advice. Professor huh? That makes sense. I would have guessed history, but English makes sense too.

My last comment will be this: As PSU said, we can agree to disagree. My opinion on the subject is that it does not benefit the resource (and I'm pretty sure does not benefit PSU) by posting this. What really becomes of the post - you get a few "at-a-boys" and maybe people think you are a good fisherman and SEPA pioneer?
Not only is this a poor time of the year to be stressing wild fish in SEPA (high temps and low water) but access is a major issue. Sure, part of this stream runs through a park but the majority is bordered by private property.. If people want to find it on the class A list (which it really probably shouldn't be on) then let them find it and go explore. This is just my opinion. Thanks for letting me post my thoughts.
 
Good post streamer stripper. You have some valid points. In any matter Indian Run River is not a stream that is even really worth fishing. It is very shallow, tiny, loaded with chubs and much of it is posted. There are plenty of other fishing opportunities in the area that are far better.
