I'm familiar with the pool in the photo and the angle of Dave's photo is a bit deceptive creating the illusion that the creek bed is dry. Nevertheless, BHC does tend to get very low during summer. I think that this year flows have been generally much better than normal for May/June. However, folks who typically fish BHC in the springtime are often shocked when they return in mid-summer at the skinny water. It's normal.
There's a long standing story in these parts (can't speak for its truth) that when Eisenhower would stay out at Camp David, the state would load up the local creeks with extra fish and big ones. The story goes they'd do this on the sly as Ike apparently didn't like the practice but the local fishermen's grapevine got the word out pretty quick and locals would descend on the creeks after the weekend. They say the fishin was mighty good for big trout. 🙂
