Honey Creek, Mifflin County: 5/16/11

Fish from about 6 to 8.

When I arrived there were several bugs hatching: Sulphurs, brown drake, caddis, and craneflies.

I believe the fish were keying on the emerging craneflies.

The water was slightly high for my liking and slightly off color.

There were several fish rising in the frog water.
I hooked up with fish in the riffles with either a PT or a cranefly larva pattern.

The rain started at 8:00; right after I broke my leader in half (looing my in-line indicator) on my last cast.

The "frog water?" Never heard that one before. Could you enlighten me?

Long pools that have very little current or riffles; or slow moving water.

OK, that makes sense - I just never heard it called that. Honey sure has its share of it too - I find that stream difficult and challenging and I've always been intrigued by it.

I like Honey as well. My biggest complaint is the long, long, long frog water sections. There's another stream in the count that is very similar and produces bigger fish. Sorry, I won't give the name of this one away; although it's not hidden or secrect in anyway.

Sorry I missed your post. I was busy all Wednesday night. Sunday evening is a possibility, well if the weather cooperates.

No sweat kern. I wil be long gone by sunday. Though honey was sweet. I will hit there again. You are fortunate to be in that area.

All you missed was a torrent of rain. The skies opened up.

You are lucky you don't live near gfen. He will accuse you of being from nj and parking near the high pressured frog water. Not me.
