Fished Honey Creek right in Bender Park as I waited for the Penns Creek Chapter of TU meeting..I started at 4:00 pm and fished until 6:15 pm. Water was clear with a greenish tint and flows were ideal. Water was 52°.
Lots of sulfur activity and some rises. I caught all fish but two on a variety of soft hackles tied in orange and yellow hues..I landed about 15 trout total, with about 10 being rainbows. I worked a very small piece of water. I fished one riffle twice about 2 hours apart..by this time sulfur activity had declined and I couldn't buy a bite on my soft hackles. I added a big, green ugly caddis like nymph pattern which picked up two more rainbows..
The sulfurs are really getting rolling here in Mifflin County.
