I was working in Perry Co. today and drove through Little Buffalo S.P. on the way home. It was such a gorgeous afternoon that I just couldn't resist stopping by Holman Lake for one of my super micro WW outings. I only fished for about 20-30 minutes and covered a very small area of the bank. The water was very clear with fairly heavy weed growth but I spotted many species of sunfish, yellow perch and quite a few LMB in various age classes cruising through the weedbeds. I dug around in my WW fly box, which is an absolute mess around this time of year and found a soft hackle streamer that I had never fished before that was tied out of all pheasant feathers with a little green/pearl krystal flash. I couldn't fool any of the larger bass but I did catch a few smaller bass and a yellow perch on the streamer. The bass were in the 7-8" range and were very nicely marked and looked extremely healthy. Holman Lake is a very nice impoundment. I would like to spend a bit more time exploring around the banks of Holman with my fly rod in the future.

Good for you...I spent the day on the Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway- you got the better deal!

Nice Pix...

Neat report - Holman lake is a fun place. I often find that the fall isn't the best time to fish lake shorelines for bass and panfish, but yuh never know. The lake has a lot of nice crappies and lots of big perch.

lovely perch. my favourite WW fish.
