i fished hickory yesterday afternoon for a bit downstream by lehigh and was surprised how cold the water was but very shallow. i spooked a lot of trouts but did catch 3 trouts i think browns and one that went close to 12. i was using a 14 hare ear and thingabob and did better when i took thingabob off because trouts keep swimming away when it hit water but not when only using a fly. it was you found one trout and there was more trouts in the same hole but then nothing for next stretch until next hole.

i am tired and sore today after all the walking.

Nice report PJ.
What county is this park in? Note that here in the Stream Reports forum, we ask for the title line to include: stream, county, date.
There's no need to describe exactly where you were fishing but some specific information about conditions is encouraged (water temps/levels, weather, hatches etc).
Thanks,
Dave W

So there are fish in Hickory Run. Huh. Maybe they came up from the Lehigh to escape the warm water . . .

Dude, they stock Hickory Run.

sorry for not naming county thought naming hickery park would be better and more clear where stream it is at. there are lots of trouts in hickory because i scared a them and when catch one that scares other trouts from same spot. i was fishing by end of stream by lehigh and i do not know where trouts were from if lehigh or stocked but a trout is a trout to me but i do not keep any because i want to catch them again and again.

PJ, the county requirement assist searches by county. Thus a reader looking for info about streams in an unfamiliar area can seach the county name and turn up a list of posts where the county appears in the title.

Most people probably used the Stream Reports for current information, but there is a lot of info available for an historic look at the stream or area.

They do stock Hickory Run, but very little. Pre-season gets maybe 5-6 buckets and the one in-season stocking gets 3 buckets.

Very few, if any of these fish survive the meathunters.

RyanR,

Dude. They stock the upper section of Hickory Run just below the lake. The section he was fishing is Class A. Well, at least it is supposed to be. Do you have some insight on stocking of the lower water that I was not aware of or which is not posted on the PFBC website??

i fish for 2 hours on wednesday morning downstream again and caught 5 but biggest was a 10 inch brown. this was one of my best day fishing and i was happy because 4 was most i ever caught at one time. i did not see as many trouts as before but water was higher than before and not as clear. on way back to car i talk to 2 other people who said they caught like 10 and they were fishing above me and one guy said he caught a brown about more than a foot long.
