I have fished with Montana Angler a couple of times. I highly recommend the Smith River Wilderness trip.

Granted, I suppose it might depend on how cold it gets in a given winter season, but does their water there in WV generally stay open?

I'm sitting here right now with 11 days of vacation I need to burn (use it or lose it at my employer) before Xmas, and thinking I need to plan better next year. Hot tubs and private water in the dead of winter sounds pretty sweet. Long drive for me, but maybe stop at some distillery tours in KY to break the trip up? ⚙️⚙️⚙️

I'm not sure about if water stays open or not. Likely the winter does have that as an issue at some point. I would suggest calling asking for Tim. Tim runs the fly fishing operations at Harmans. He has been guiding in the area for many years and knows the waters in the area very well. (800) 436-6254

My wife and I were just looking into vacation for next year, we are going to look into Harmans as a place we may both like. Thanks Dave for the suggestion.

Harmans is a cool place in the most beautiful part of WV. Even if you don’t fish on their property there are some other good streams within a 30 minute drive.

Unfortunately I booked a 3 day stay there last year and about an hour after arriving we got torrential downpours from hurricane remnants that blew out the stream and knocked out the power. I got to fish for one hour and sit in the dark the rest of the first day. Last two days the creek was flooded and we couldn’t fish so I drank like one instead.
