I don't why, but real maggots skeeve me out like nobody's business...

I know they are a popular bait like meal-worms & wax worms which I have no problem threading on a hook. However, I associate those "critters" with a small container I got out of the bait fridge at Walmart...

Not something I saw wriggling on a bloated carcass on the side of the road... 😱

The maggots sold as ice fishing (jigging) bait are blowfly larvae. I keep them in the frig during ice fishing “season” and my wife says they’re a great diet control for her. She doesn’t want to open the frig as much.

For me it's the associated smell that accompanies them. They are never consuming a rose bush.

reminds me of my youth. I had a freezer in the basement where I stored my muskrats prior to selling them. It skeezed out my mother for years from having a second freezer in the basement
