Aside from my contribution to the latest fly swap, I'm a little behind but with the snowy weather, I cranked out a whole bunch of these today before the start of the Bills/Broncs game:



A couple different fish flavors, all size 14's.

I'm glad my dry fly boxes don't need much work because I'm having a tough time deciding what I want to do next.

-Build 2 new rods that I have blanks for..
-Tie some saltwater flies for a March trip...
-Repair a few no-name bamboo rods that were given to me...
-Tie some new patterns with new materials...
-Have a glass of scotch...

Too many things that I would love to do.

Not quite as good as yours. Maybe 2 dozen tied with some of those given away. My evening at the bench slows considerably as I sip on the single malt that I do enjoy 😉

Yes but for only for about a year. Quick story: I end up meeting a bunch of old-timers on Kettle every year for several days (including Maxima12). This year we got a lot of rain and spent two days drinking whiskey, telling stories, and tying flies instead of fishing. There's worst ways to spend days like that. Anyhoo, one of the greybeards fishes foam post paras exclusively. We tied a bunch and fished them the following several days.

I was amazed at how much easier they were to pick up on the water in low light and glare compared to other post materials. I always have them with me now for hard light situations.

Not exclusive to foam posts though, still tie a lot with mostly McFlylon like these #18 BWOs I whipped up during the weekend snow.



I haven't experimented with black posts yet. Anybody tying and fishing paras with black posts?

I try to tie posts to the natural wing color (old school/anal, im not sure) but I do tie black/pink in each pattern too. I like black a lot in certain light situations because I find that I can pick it up easier. I tie natural wing color (with poly yarn or similar) and then orange and black. I tie a lot less orange/black than I do natural but it helps in all light situations....

Started the wraps on the new 7'6" glass rod...can't wait for the silk to go transparent!!!

Started the cleaning of the mystery bamboo rod. Look what I found when I cleaned the winding check!

Now it's time for Scotch!!!!

I've been using this quite a bit and like it a lot for posts.
