Hake Reek, 4/9/09, Berks County

My workload allowed an afternoon off so I decided to check out Hay Creek. Hah!

Quiet place in the fall/winter but at 2:00 today there were at least 40 cars parked where I generally see maybe 2 or 3. I realize it was stocked the other day but I figured Thursday afternoon? A cageless zoo wasn't for me. With all the tromping around it's amazing there are any wild browns in there.

I'll look for a DHALO tomorrow.

I was there yesterday too. I did manage to catch 2 wild browns and one large stocked brown up stream where there were less cars and people. It was my 2 time there ever. Crazy place and certainly a different type of fishing culture that I am used to.

On Hay, there are places to find solitude and wild fish, even on opening day. :-D You don't even have to walk too far for it.

There are also sections of Hay Creek that even a nut like me almost hates to fish. It can be very over grown and spooking fish almost always happens. Its a nice creek though. As jayL said, keep exploring 🙂
